Food was okay. I had their chicken pesto pasta- Chicken was pretty dry but pasta was delicious. The drinks were pretty good! Service was good. Kind and did their job, nothing extra! They did mess up on an order, offered to change it. Overall nice experience, cute place.
Nice restaurant with cool decor and good drinks and food. The Creole Bloody Mary wasn't as spicy as I'm used to so it tasted a little bland. Everyone else liked their drinks. The waitress was very nice and friendly. She didn't rush us with our orders or dinner. Corn fritters were ok but the shrimp beignets were delicious. The braised short rib was so tender, the flat iron steak was flavorful, and the trout fillet was buttery. The sea bass dish was on the small side and didn't taste so fresh so I don't recommend ordering that. The fried chicken was also delicious and juicy!
A friend was visiting out of town and this place actually had a vegan page in their menu which made my guest really happy and brought us in. We started with some Bloody Mary’s. They have house mad mix and have a decent spice level. The onion ring was a great touch and eaten immediately. *drool* out of town guest (vegan) got the fried “chicken” sandwich. He said it was good but presentation was lacking but our server did give us fair warning it was good but needs work on display. I appreciate the honesty. My girlfriend got salad (Julep Cobb) and soup (smoked bacon corn chowder) and had trouble finishing both. She said both were hearty, delicious and would definitely be ordered again. I got the BBQ short rib sandwich which with grilled jalapeño. It wasn’t spicy but it was a delightful balance of flavor and texture. The onion ring was delicious. Fries had herbs and were tasty as well. Filling Decor and styling of the bar definitely had a vibe, I was surprised it was in Brea, which can be more chain oriented in its food offerings. A pleasant surprise to find atmosphere, good food and service. Will definitely bring people back.
Julep Cast Iron Kitchen + Drinks was nothing short of incredible. We had fantastic service with incredible food and drinks. Everything was perfect. The music was also low-key great. I can't wait to return to Julep in the near future. Julep was able to easily accommodate our group of 12 people. I highly recommend Julep Cast Iron Kitchen for anyone who loves a great dining experience in a great environment. We will be back soon!!
Happened to be in the area and stopped in for lunch with some family. The first thing that struck me is how dark and intimate it felt, even during the day, but in a good way. It felt fancier than it actually was, even a little cozy. It’s a vibe I really enjoyed. I’ll start by talking about server, Brent. He was awesome. Just a funny guy that helped make the experience fun. We started with some appetizers: corn fritters, Brussels sprouts, and spicy buffalo chicken wings. The corn fritters come with a bourbon maple glaze but I didn’t think the two paired well together. They were just okay. The Brussels sprouts were delicious and I wish we got them with the goat cheese but some at our table didn’t like it - can only imagine they’d be even better. The chicken wings were great - if you’ve ever had chicken wings before, then you know what you’re in for. For the entree, I got a steak sandwich which on paper sounds amazing: ribeye, garlic aioli, arugula, sautéed mushrooms, jack cheese, crispy onion strings all on a French roll. Unfortunately, it was a little underwhelming. I can’t pinpoint what exactly it was but it was just very…meh. I wish I had gotten the El Diablo burger instead (my cousin got this and raved about it). The only reason I didn’t is because I had eaten a burger the day before so wanted to try something new. All in all, it was a good experience. If I ever come back, I’d definitely try different items but I still enjoyed what I got.
This is my second time here and it still hasn't disappointed me! Got seated quickly even with a reservation at 11. They're kid friendly as well which helps as I brought my newborn daughter along side. Just had to park my stroller by the door which isn't a huge deal. Good wise evening had been pretty spot on! Enjoyed their blackened salmon with sauteed spinach and baby potatoes, salmon came out super soft and perfect. Also their ahi tuna stack was pretty spectacular. Drinks wise, my girlfriend and I enjoyed the Black Dahlia! We'll be back to try more things as they have an expansive menu!
First time here! And I have to say I love it so so much! The whole restaurant is decorated with metal dragonflies and portrait’s pretty young girls blindfolded by butterflies, very retro but also fashionable. The food is super big size with beautiful price, especially the skillet is double size than other places. They also have a separate outside area, good for party. Highly recommend!
Went here for lunch, and it was surprisingly a very cool spot to chill and have drinks. Couldn't eat meat on a Friday, so we just got a few apps and desert. Great atmosphere and friendly servers.
